To Doug Schneider,

I have read your review of the GoldenEar Technology Triton One. Excellent review! Very thorough, etc. While I patiently await the arrival next week of a pair I just ordered, I’m concerned about “moving” them. In this context, I mean subtle inch-by-inch movements to position them exactly perfect. One needs to be careful not to grab an area where there is no support, such as a driver, and the cloth covering can make it difficult to see what you are holding. Any input you can provide here (or anything else for that matter) is appreciated.

I note in your review that you indicate the subwoofer dial attenuation is 2dB. Is this to say it is +/-2dB throughout each “clock position”? For example, if 12 o’clock is 0dB, is 1 o’clock +2dB and 11 o’clock -2dB? And, is 2 o’clock 4dB and 10 o’clock -4dB, etc.?

Thanks,

Great choice on the Triton Ones! Don’t worry about damaging them. There’s a mesh grille In front of the tweeter, midranges, and woofers -- it’s impossible to touch them. The passive radiators, which are on the sides, are fairly low, so I don’t think you’ll touch them at all. If you do, they’re pretty durable. Plus, each Triton One isn’t all that heavy. I moved the pair around my room plenty of times and didn’t have any troubles.

That’s a good question about the subwoofer control. When I moved the dial from 1 to 12 o’clock, the overall bass level came down about 2dB. I’d assume that it would go down another 2dB going from 12 to 11 o’clock, and up 2dB going from 1 to 2 o’clock. That said, I’m not 100 percent sure if it’s the same at every clock position. Regardless, I’m confident that whichever way you turn the dial, the circuitry provides more than enough boost or attenuation to get the bass level just right for your room. . . . Doug Schneider
